Pupils in Year 8 and Year 9 are faced with tough decisions in their life.
At this age it is difficult for anyone to decide on their future profession.
But in order to choose correctly, it’s important for them to recognise and know their skills and talents. For those who already know what they might do, i.e. what subjects to choose, they need someone to help them validate their ideas. This will help them decide or at least give them an indication about their future career.
Because is it crucial to choose the right subjects, we have developed a course that encourages, verifies, set goals, plans and supports pupils’ decision on their future prospects.
The idea about the ‘ID Side’ course has derived from the pupils needs to understand and see connection between their aspirations and desires and real life careers by preparing action plans, getting direction and focus.
By knowing their ambitions and plans, parents and teachers can support them and ensure their academic development is in line with their aspirations.
What is happening at the moment is pupils being guided into the subjects for their GCSE’s by their level of achievement. Not by their desires and wishes for future professions.
The children should have a say in what they want to study (and thus who they want to become) and if they lack the academic skills in certain subjects, then the teachers should be there to provide the support.
This course helps them structure their academic needs and relay that information to the school.
